چکیده

Stationary and dynamical properties have been discussed of the coupled N -unit Langevin model subjected to spatially-correlated additive and multiplicative noise. We have employed numerical simulations and the analytical augmented-moment method which is the second-order moment method for local and global variables. It has been shown that the synchrony of an ensemble is increased (decreased) by a positive (negative) spatial correlation in both additive and multiplicative noise. Although the variability for local fluctuations is almost insensitive to spatial correlations, that for global fluctuations is increased (decreased) by positive (negative) correlations. When a pulse input is applied, the synchrony is increased for the correlated multiplicative noise, whereas it may be decreased for correlated additive noise coexisting with uncorrelated multiplicative noise. A critical comparison is made between the present study and previous ones employing the Gaussian approximation for the correlated variability due to multiplicative noise. An application of our study to neuronal ensembles has demonstrated the possibility that information is conveyed by the variance and synchrony in input signals. PACS No.: 05.10.Gg, 05.40.Ca, 84.35.+i

Synchrony and variability induced by spatially correlated additive and multiplicative noise in the coupled Langevin model.

The synchrony and variability of the coupled Langevin model subjected to spatially correlated additive and multiplicative noise are discussed. We have employed numerical simulations and the analytical augmented-moment method, which is the second-order moment method for local and global variables [H. Hasegawa, Phys. Rev. E 67, 041903 (2003)]. It has been shown that the synchrony of an ensemble i...

Fluctuation Dissipation Relation for a Langevin Model with Multiplicative Noise

A random multiplicative process with additive noise is described by a Langevin equation. We show that the fluctuation-dissipation relation is satisfied in the Langevin model, if the noise strength is not so strong. keywords fluctuation-dissipation theorem, Langevin equation, multiplicative noise, Levy flight.

Moment Equations in a Lotka-volterra Extended System with Time Correlated Noise *

A spatially extended Lotka-Volterra system of two competing species in the presence of two correlated noise sources is analyzed: (i) an external multiplicative time correlated noise, which mimics the interaction between the system and the environment; (ii) a dichotomous stochastic process, whose jump rate is a periodic function, which represents the interaction parameter between the species. Th...

Mesoscopic description of the annealed Ising model, and multiplicative noise

A new type of Langevin equation exhibiting a nontrivial phase transition associated with the presence of multiplicative noise is discussed. The equation is derived as a mesoscopic representation of the microscopic annealed Ising model ~AIM! proposed by Thorpe and Beeman, and reproduces perfectly its basic phenomenology. The AIM exhibits a nontrivial behavior as the temperature is increased, in ...
